Ellsworth County maintains 80 miles of paved roads, 160 miles of gravel roads and 762 bridges. Maps showing the County maintained roads can be viewed on the Township's page.
ROAD CLOSING NOTICE:
Old Highway 40 between Ellsworth and Wilson will be closed from 9th Road to 11th Road beginning January 20th thru August 15th, 2020 for bridge replacement.
Permits are required for any type of work in the County right-of-ways. Permits can be obtained by contacting the office.
Moving permits are also required. They may be obtained by contacting the County clerk’s office.
Ellsworth County has job openings only when positions open up. We have pre-employment drug screenings and monthly random drug testing.
Ellsworth County Road and Bridge department is looking for dependable people to fill several full time positions – welding position, mechanic, laborer, and truck driver. Must possess a valid Kansas drivers license, CDL class A preferred in all positions. Will help person obtain CDL. Positions will be open until filled. Benefits include health insurance, vacation and sick leave. Starting pay based on experience. Applicant must pass a physical, a drug test and a driver’s license check before being hired. Snow – all County blacktop and gravel roads are opened starting as soon as possible with snow problem only.
Ice – salt trucks will only salt roads (paved) when temperature reaches 20 degrees F or above. Sunshine on the salt will let us salt with lower temperatures.
